High precision positioning system for micro machining
The ultra-precise nanopositioning system by AEROTECH Inc. is employed for micro materials processing with ultrashort laser pulses and allows for the precise fabrication of complex components with minute structural features without thermally compromising the surrounding material. The device provides the means for a fast, stable and repeatable positioning of the sample with nanometer resolution. In doing so, it opens up a wide range of technological possibilities and drives important advances in micro materials processing. Future fields of applications of this positioning system will be the inscription of photonic chips for quantum optics, the fabrication and characterization of novel sensor systems based on integrated-optical circuitry, and ablative structuring down to the sub-micron range. In addition to these manifold technological scenarios, this purchase paves the way for future projects as well as the intensification of existing scientific collaborations.
