„Scientia tenebras illuminat”

Dear guests,

Welcome to the pages of the research group “Experimental Solid-State Optics”.

The aim of our group is the fundamental theoretical and experimental understanding of wave-physical phenomena in periodic and functionalized media. The basis of our investigations is the evolution of classical optical wave packets and entangled single photons in three-dimensional systems of coupled waveguides, which were inscribed in optical glass chips using ultrashort laser pulses. The research directions of the group include, among others, the emulation of solid-state phenomena in optical systems, the emulation of relativistic physics, topological photonics, and integrated quantum optics. Our mission is to explore the mysteries of physics with light, true to the mottoscientia tenebras illuminat - knowledge illuminates the darkness”.

Our group is based in the new research building of the Institute for Physics at the South City Campus of the University of Rostock, which is located in the beautiful harbor city of Rostock, Germany.

I hope you enjoy our web presence. For any queries, please contact us by email, telephone, fax, and snail mail using the contact details given below.
