Congratulations!

In his research, Dr. Maczewsky drew inspiration from a wide variety of fields in physics. Leveraging concepts from optics/photonics, solid state physics, topology and nonlinear physics, Dr. Maczewsky's findings are of fundamental physical character as well as societal relevance. Questions of fundamental physics are combined with advanced technological approaches. Furthermore, he worked on one of the most exciting challenges of our time, the quantum computer, for which he proposed innovative components and realized their prototypes for the first time. Furthermore, the optical model systems he studied play an important role in physics, chemistry and biology.

Directly after completing his teaching training, Dr. Maczewsky began his doctoral work in the research group of Prof. Alexander Szameit. One of his most important maxims is to regard science as an ambassador of reason. Following his passion, Dr. Maczewsky works as a gymnasium teacher and in didactics of physics at the university. This allows him to pass on his enthusiasm for physics and other natural sciences to both students and prospective teachers alike.
